Tell us a little about yourself (family, hobbies, etc.)
So excited to be here! A little bit about myself... I am a wife and a mother of two sweet boys-- Grant & Dean. My career is in Financial Planning and I also have a great passion there as well. Surprise, surprise, my most favorite hobby is photography! I have only been really getting deep into it since May and love that each day I find myself learning more and more.
What got you started in taking lifestyle images (or photography in general)?
I have always been into photography, even with a point and shoot, but what really gave me that extra push to dive deeper was my mom. She got her first DSLR and I followed suit about 9 months later, for Mother's Day! I shot automatic for the first 6 months and then a few friends gave me the extra push to get into manual. The rest has been an amazing journey of learning and finding myself through the lens. I have so much ahead of me but I think I've found the style I love.
Any photographers that you look up to?
There are so, so many photographers I look up to. Michelle L Morris Photography is a photographer I admire, I love her black and white imagery, they're raw and soulful. Sarah-Beth Photography is my favorite family photographer-- she does a beautiful job capturing the golden sun and a families connection. SummerK Photography, Melina Nastazia Photography. The list goes on and on….
What is in your camera bag?
I shoot with the Nikon D610 and very rarely does my Tamron 28-75mm come off. I love the option to shoot wide but still be able to get really close without getting in my subjects face :)
I also shoot with the Lensbaby sweet 35 and my 50mm 1.4
If you could capture anybody in the
world, anywhere, who and where?
If I could capture anyone in the world, anywhere... hmmm that is a tough one! It pains me thinking about how I lived in Hawaii for 2 years but did not have my DSLR, nor did I know how to use one! I would have captured some pretty amazing things--but in my dream world I would like to travel with my children and be able to document all the beautiful places they've seen. I am DYING to go to Australia, so I guess I would say my family on the Gold Coast. Not just my boys, but my whole family!
